Flower Girl

January 20, 2014 by annie

“I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine.”

– A Midsummer Night’s dream

Delphinium, Marigold, Baby’s Breath, Edelweiss, Hyacinth, Oleander, Lily of the Valley, Wisteria- fidelity, austerity, purity of heart, flower names are always so sincere. While their names might be grounded in the language of Victorian morality, their images conjure up fantastical landscapes full of fairies doing wicked things.

It’s that combination of ornament and aphrodisiac that make flowers the perfect  backdrop for this photoshoot. To produce these images we used a combination of flashlight photography with an overlay floral still lifes that Nick had previously shot. The result  are photos that capture the light, color, and movement of the flowers and the girl.
